Our brief, pleasant history

Not long after the attacks of 9/11, Tom Flocco in Philadelphia, began researching the insider trading alleged in connection with 9-11. Tom wrote a three part series following many leads few else seemed to be following. His "Profits of Death" stories were labelled "too controversial" by two leading news websites. Something was not right .

Tom's series was published with Mike Ruppert of From the Wilderness (FTW) one of the publications and websites to break through the corporate media fog on the issues of 9/11. Kyle Hence of Rhode Island read Tom's work and offered to help on research into the insider trading issues. So began a fruitful collaboration and exchange.

T om and Kyle realized the need for broader cooperation between researchers and investigators in the search for the truth behind 9-11. Kyle began fleshing out ideas for an edited compilation of the finest work on the subject .

On May 18th, following major news developments involving the FBI's Phoenix and Mousaoui memos and the August 6 briefing of the President; Kyle called Tom with the suggestion that the timing was right for a major press event on the 9-11 issues. Frustrated with the unanswered questions surrounding 9-11 that were not being addressed by the government or corporate media, they decided to bring together investigators, researchers, and victims and their attorneys for an event at the National Press Club . This event would raise those questions, and seek answers and accountability.

Tom then called Catherine Austin Fitts , an investment banker in Hickory Valley, Tennessee. Catherine expressed concern that not only were we not getting answers about 9-11, but that the response to 9-11 was harming our national and financial security. Is the War on Terrorism making us less safe in the US and abroad, not more? Are our tax dollars rewarding failure as opposed to investing in safety?

Tom, Kyle and Catherine realized that one of the ways to get from questions and answers was helping to develop a flow of investigation that avoided traditional dead ends. The national media, Congressional inquiries, and the leadership of federal enforcement and intelligence were not the way to go. What we would do is to link people throughout America and around the world who working together can find the truth. We would enlist the truth tellers in the media.

There is a growing and powerful free press of news, radio and video that has grown up around the internet . Al Giordano and Narco New's contribution to foiling the coup d'etat in Venezuala is a recent reminder of how media free of corporate influence and control can shift power back to the forces of democracy.

Catherine knew Miles Thompson, a New Zealander and software developer living in New York. Miles' brother, Alastair was the Editor of Scoop Media in New Zealand. Alastair had been a leader in publishing MalContentX and other unanswered questions on 9-11. Miles was one of those who escaped through the dust from a few blocks away. Miles agreed to lead a volunteer technology team to help build a website that would create a voice and picture for all the unanswered questions flowing in from through out the world. Miles asked his friends, some New Zealanders and some folks from down at Indymedia NYC to help out with the technology and they said yes. Thank goodness, the Kiwis had arrived.

Tom's wife, Miles' wife and brand new family and Kyle's mom all picked up some load to make it possible, making UnAnsweredQuestions.org entirely a family affair.

And that is how UnansweredQuestions.org got started - because no one is as smart as all of us - especially when we are thinking for ourselves.
